About Organisation

Inspired by the J.P. revolution movement, a group of socially devoted people decided to make a difference in the life of under privileged section of society through organized efforts.  Tirhut Samagra Vikas Parishad was founded as a not profit organization in 1992 to address the issues of illiteracy, poverty, health and women empowerment prevalent in the State of Bihar. The organization began working towards bringing about “Total Revolution and Social Change” with a view to cover the entire state in few years.

Tirhut Samagra Vikas Parishad presently works in districts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Odisha with all marginalized communities with a special focus on the children, youth, women and small farmers through interventions in health and sanitation, education, women empowerment and livelihood creation. Women empowerment is achieved through entitlement realization, gender sensitization and building their capacity for ensuring their participation in local self-governance. Environmental education and awareness is created among the communities and training and irrigational infrastructure is provided to encourage sustainable agriculture. Special attention is also paid to disability related issues in the community.

TSVP believes that the path towards conquering economic poverty is through enhancing the livelihood capabilities of the poor and giving them access to sustainable income earning opportunities.  In the process, the poor must be enabled to break free from their past, develop an alternative vision of their future and set achievable goals.  They must be equipped with the technical, organizational, negotiating, and networking skills that will facilitate the fulfillment of their goals. Our aim is to stimulate and support these poor women and men to dream of a better future and stimulate their sense of agency as they endeavour to enhance incomes, improve access to services or claim rights and entitlements.

The organization is an ISO 9001:2008 certified and is acknowledged as a leading educational provider in the area of vocational training.
